Mums and Daughter’s Breakfast

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

A special morning was planned for mums and daughters to spend some quality time together. A delicious breakfast was enjoyed and many girls and their mums walked away with lovely lucky draw prizes.

Guest speakers were Sam Wilson, editor-in-chief of Cape Town Child Magazine, who entertained the guests with the stories of her time at Oakhurst. She was followed by Candice Foggerty, an accessories buyer for the Foschini group. Candice filled the guests in on the fashion trends for the season ahead.

Outreach: Care Packs

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

The survivors of crime who are brought to the trauma centre at the Rondebosch Police Station are presented with Care Packs put together by some of our grade 6 and 7 girls under the guidance of Hanna-Rose Smith. This project was started a few years ago by Hanna-Rose Smith, an Oakhurst pupil at the time. She has subsequently won a number of awards for this project and would like to keep the Oakhurst girls involved. The girls pack items such as soap, face cloths, underwear etc into these boxes and they include a note for the recipient. The sustainability of the project depends largely on sponsorship and donations. Please contact us if you are able to sponsor or donate any of the items packed in these boxes.
