Grade 6

The Grade 6 class signifies the end of the Intermediate Phase (grade 4, 5 and 6).  The girls are encouraged to grow in their independence and to take  an increasingly responsible  role in their own learning.

We endeavor to create a caring and nurturing environment for our girls to build up their confidence. In order to assist learning, we try to use as many group and hands-on activities as possible.

Some of the outings we enjoy are to visit the Gold Museum, Palmiet River Scheme and the History of Medicine Museum at Groote Schuur Hospital. We also go on a two night camp.

Some of the duties performed by the grade 6 girls are serving on the social committee and participating in the General Knowledge quiz.

The Grade 6 teacher is Mrs Tonkin.  She has two children, namely Caitlin and Christopher.  They both go to Westerford High School.  Mrs Tonkin really enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and (sometimes) cooking.  Her favourite place to visit is the Cederberg and Namibia.
