Grade 7

Mrs Womack heads up this grade. She has been teaching at Oakhurst for 20 years and Grade 7 for 9 of those years. She loves reading, drawing, sewing, playing the guitar, producing plays, filming, travelling, game driving, designing worksheets and teaching Grade 7.

Grade 7 is the beginning of the Senior Phase i.e. Grade 7, 8 and 9. The curriculum is exciting and challenging. New topics are covered such as algebra in Maths, clausal analysis in English, the Periodic Table and Chemistry in Science, Evolution in History, Sexuality Education in Life Orientation and calculating Networth in Economic Management Sciences.

The Grade 7’s are the ‘top’ of the school, the seniors, and with this comes RESPONSIBILITY. The Grade 7’s are the House Captains, Sports Captains, Head of Social Committee, Head Library Monitors, Choir Monitors, General Knowledge Team and Scripture Union Committee. The Grade 7’s mentor and supervise the Grade 1’s at break. They also answer the school telephone during break to give the secretary a well deserved coffee break.
