At Oakhurst, art goes beyond aesthetics; we see it as a fun way for our girls to build creative problem-solving skills and confidence through expression.
Our Art room is a nurturing space where we teach that there are no mistakes, only possibilities.
Each grade builds on the skills learnt in the previous grade, allowing them to develop their creativity and critical thinking skills as they progress through our school.
Art is always evolving and so should the learning process.
We encourage collaboration and feedback within the art classes where learners are not afraid to offer their thoughts and ideas.
From Grade 1 throughout to Grade 7 the girls are encouraged to work with a variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums.
This allows them to express their thoughts in a unique, visual, and creative way whilst informally learning about the theory and history of Art as supportive context to the practical execution of each art project.
In Grade 1 they are introduced to colour theory, shapes and textures and they learn simple drawing techniques which are further developed throughout their time at the school.
